The 'My Own Kid Test' for Writing High Quality Content
People in SEO and entrepreneur forums often ask how to increase the quality of their content for SEO purposes.
I think there is a simple test you can use to evaluate the quality of content on your own site.
The “My Own Kid” Test
Imagine that you have a kid and you want them to learn about the topic that you’re writing about. Would you send your own child to your site in order to educate them about that topic?
If not, why not?
Ask yourself if it’s because you’re just writing rehashed filler for search engine bots so you can make advertising and affiliate revenue. If you’re doing that, without any sense of responsibility to your readers, your site is probably going to look like it — another generic blog with top 10 lists that were paraphrased from other sites, ChatGPT articles, and nothing new to offer the world.
Which site would you send your kids to? How can you make your resource better than the existing resources out there?
If you wouldn’t send your own kids to your site to become educated about the topic, why are you publishing it in the first place?
It’s much easier to write top-quality content if you have a passion for the subject and a sense of responsibility to your readers.
Give it a try, and let me know if it helps you find ways to improve your site.
